Dining North Coast
Recent Dining Experiences
Ledford House - This Provencal style restaurant is located at the South end of the Albion River bridge (about 4 miles south of Auberge Mendocino) along the bluffs overlooking the Pacific. The owners Tony & Lisa Geer have been operating the restaurant since 1986. The ever-changing menu based around their herb garden has a strong Mediterranean influence with subtle Asian & Latin accents and flavors. The restaurant features 2 dining areas - one contains a bar where you can enjoy relaxing jazz while you dine. In addition to being the Executive Chef, Lisa is also an artist with many of her works decorating the walls of the Restaurant. The wine list is extensive.
Albion River Inn - Located at the North end of the Albion River bridge (about 4 mile south of Auberge Mendocino), this Mendocino Coast restaurant has great views of the Pacific which compliments the food prepared with distinctive flavors of the sea and the unique Mendocino Coastal region. The rich and hearty cuisine incorporates many flavorful elements from Asian, Mediterranean and regional traditions. In addition to their normal dinner menu they offer some inexpensive light entrees that Kathy & I particularly enjoy. The wine list here is also extensive.
Patersons Pub - For a quick bite to eat with all of the atmosphere of a local pub, Patersons is the place. Located on Lansing Street in Mendocino (about 2 mile north of Auberge Mendocino), you can dine here and experience much of the local color that Mendocino has to offer. The crowd ranges from young to old. It is quite noisy as a local bar should be. But at the same time, the crowd is not rowdy. Just a bunch of locals enjoying each other’s company. The decor is eclectic with many flat screen TVs throughout. There is even a Moose head hanging on the wall. With a good eye, one may notice a famous lamp sitting in the corner at the front of the bar. The food - well it is bar food. I like their burgers and Kathy’s favorites are the chicken tenders or shrimp basket. The pub also features a good selection of locally brewed beers.
Stevenswood Restaurant
The Restaurant at Stevenswood serves up New American cuisine. The elegant garden-side dining room has large bay windows with scenic views of the surrounding forest setting. The intimate dining room is accented by exposed beams, soft lighting, original artwork, and a cozy fireplace. For dinner, Chef Patrick Meany features an ever-evolving menu with three, four, or five course options, affording guests the opportunity to create their own special dinner. Complimenting the dinner is a truly professional and friendly staff. The dining experience at Stevenswood should not be missed. The restaurant is located less than a quarter mile north of Auberge Mendocino.
